I went to the River for about a 5hr. hunt today. Got there around 9AM and left at 2PM. Another beautiful day till around 2 when the lighting started, a common thing this time of year in Fl.
I had a good laugh at a couple teenagers trying to ride some kids animal floats down the river one was a fish and the other was a Dragon, they must have fallen off 5 times before they got the hang of it.
I found 82 coins today for a total of 7.58 and one small .925 silver ring with 2 green stones, and some junk. 82 coins out of 110 targets not to bad of a ratio. Here is my spin for the day. HH

MY CAMERA FOGGED UP WHEN IT CAME OUT OF THE 72 DEGREE WATER AND HIT THE 90 DEGREE AIR
THESE GUYS HAD A 4 HR. FLOAT AHEAD OF THEM.

Really? Man I sure wish I were down there. The fossil hunting must be great about now.

Big foot , are you planing on doing any hunting on the way down the River, sundays are very busy this time of year , I go on weekdays . There are a few shallow places on the trip you can stand on the sand bottom, but allot of grass on the bottom on most of the trip.

I'll be out of town that weekend going to the East Coast for 3 days to hunt Cocoa Beach area.

Good luck and HH

Nice haul:thumbup:

Don't wan to steal your booty or anything like that, but gonna be down that way for a couple of weeks, and I think my daughter would really love the float down that river. Going to be in Daytona for a few days and Flagler Beach area, then maybe heading toward Tallahassee for a few days. Figure if its not too far off from where we will be, it might be a nice way to spend a few hours.
Regards,
Keith

It is on the Rainbow River in Dunellon Fl. about 120 miles west of Daytona. It is a 4 to 4.5 hour trip down the River You have to leave the park by 1:45 .Raft and return ride is some where in the 15.00 range. You can bring your own raft or most anything that floats. I see kids floating on king size air mattresses. There are Quarter (.25cent) operated air compressors at the park to fill your float. As far as getting all the loot there, it will return the next day, not allot of good jewelry, most people plan to leave it at home for this trip. Hope you enjoy Daytona during your stay. HH

Can't you still obtain a prermit to fossil hunt or did they stop that too?
