Back to the old park with the Sovereign GT

I went back to the old park that I have been hunting on and off and have been finding plenty of wheat pennies and modern coins, but have yet to find any silver.
Today I hunted for about 3 1/2 hours with my buddy and found 14 wheat pennies, a buffalo nickel, a "V" nickle, and an IH cent.
I had a couple of signals that read good swinging in one direction, but when I checked it at 90 degrees, the detector just nulled, so I decided to see what it was and low and behold... a wheat penny in the same hole with the nails pictured!!
I was impressed and learned more about the great detector today.
Both of the nickels were in the same hole, but all of the wheats came one to a hole.
My buddy did manage to find a nice 1942 mercury dime which made us both happy since this is the first silver coin found here so far.
Right now the ratio is about 40 wheat pennies to 1 silver coin.... I hope we don't have to wait this long before we find another silver coin LOL!!
I am seeing more and more why so many folks like this detector and are making great finds with it.
I was tickled to find all of the wheats today and that is the most I have found in one day of hunting.
Thanks for looking,
Felix

Where do you live, I'm coming over, even if I have to be sexually harassed at the airport

Nice job. Popping the many wheats means silver must be present. Silver can read like a wheat on any machine. Good point on good one way signals. I've found if it sounds perfect one way I don't care if it nulls the other because it's often a coin with trash or laying oddly.

You did great finding all those old pennies and nickels......we'll get the silver next time.
Great post and pictures.

I have experienced your type of wheats to silver ratio. (E-trac and Tejon)
Have a spot that has a 30 to 1 ratio!
Added a few wheats from the spot a few weeks ago.
I Don't ever expect to get any more silver from this spot,
I guess I'll accept it for what it is= a wheat hole.
I have thought a ton of why there is not much silver there, and
all I can think is that the spot was most likely used exclusively by
small children.
Might not hold any bearing but I can't think of another good one.
Good luck,
Deep Digger
