Back to the beach again. Haven't been there for a few weeks (was in New Zealand) so was very surprised to see that machines are in there to level it all before the summer crowds. Great for us because it can bring new goodies!
I started out using the Sea Hunter Mark II, dug all signals, which resulted in a few coins and two buckets of trash.
In the afternoon I used an Ace 150, because my younger son wasn't. Elder son used his Ace.
By chance we met the bulldozer driver (company owner?) and he and his wife sat next to us on the concrete steps while we ate our boxed lunches from the convenience store nearby. He offered me a large can of beer but I turned it down due to driving later. Then he offered us some pieces of Kentucky Fried chicken so we all happily ate that!
He seems to have a lot of good local beach knowledge, we'll probably see him again over the next month or so as they move down the beach, expect to finish by June 10th. They are trying to level it so when someone is up at the walkway they can clearly see the edge of the sea i.e. kids playing in/near the water. Mainly for safety reasons. So far they've cut down around 1.5m, most of that was the results of typhoons last year. The photo of my sons sitting on the sand with boats behind gives you an idea of how far. They'll have to go down a bit more though to uncover another step from the walkway. From the huge amount of trash it is just like when I first started at that beach i.e. a BIG clean up job again!
The results:
Younger son: Zero, but he did dig some trash in the morning and had a great time doing other things after lunch.
Elder son: The first three rings from the left, two are silver. Plus 375 yen in coins (top two rows). One amusement machine token to the left. He also played around a lot so could easily increase his finds if more focused.
Me: The other three silver rings at the right. 893 yen in coins. A 1965 American quarter was something different.
Bulldozer guy!: So far he's found a pistol. Better him than me! (Warned the kids to leave any unusual things in the sand and give me a shout.)
