Been away from the hobby a couple years but missed it so after some research I got a makro 2. Went to a local park this morning, found some clad and pull tabs, a shotgun shell casing, and a newer lock. Hunted in 3 tone and I noticed if the tone was high and the number was repeatable it was a coin. If it were high tone and the numbers jumped it was a pull tab. Not sure what deep silver would do though. I hunt mainly parks and old homesites. I know putting in the time to learn the machine is best but any advice that might speed that learning curve?

Di2 is deeper than di3 but also alot sparkier.
I like di3. Set your tone break where you'd like. I set low to mid at like 10 or 11 so all iron will grunt low tone.
I set my mid to high tone to break just below a zinc penny. So mid tones will be nickels and since and above are high tone.
I don't notch anything out.
I prefer di3 mostly for coin hunting.
Other than that, just read the manual and play around with your gain (sensitivity). I usually run di3 around 80 but you can push it to 99. Di2 you won't be able to go very high but turn it up until it chatters, then back off until it's to a point you can handle the Boise or down until it quiets down.

Also, you can adjust the pitch of each time too so you can find the pitches you enjoy more.
There's alot of adjustability with it.
