Back to the colonial site today. We all had a fair day today-But Mr. Lucky strikes again. I just don't know, Mr. Lucky is truly lucky. Anyway-can anyone ID this plate and give some sort of time frame? We have only found 1812 items here. Thanks

You tell MR Lucky he need to give you a turn. I would bet though you are finding some good stuff also. You guys have found a really good spot. Fantastic Belt Plate!!!

Sorry I can't help with a positive ID. But a couple things caught my attention. One is that the wings are spread upward much more than most military eagles. And two, the head of the eagle is facing toward the right. Again, most military eagles on belt plates I've seen have the eagle facing the other way. Some breast plates are facing as this. But belt plates have the eagle looking over his right shoulder, and the wings are not both spread upward. Keep us posted if you get a positive ID. Again, nice finds. HH Randy

From what I've read, it appears that the plate is a Light Dragoon plate circa 1812. So rare that it may be one of only two known and an actual picture of an entire plate is not available. Super find! One so good that it may always be "hard to top"!

Again, Congratulations to Mr. Lucky. Must make a dad very proud! HH Randy

That's a one in a million find. Tell Mr. Lucky congrats and by the way...what does he use for a detector??? Ron
