Back to the Beach to Start the New Year!

I headed back to Horseshoe Bay with the Princess for this afternoon's low tide and ran in to a nice couple from Cold Lake, Alberta (they don't call it Cold Lake for nuthin'). There were people swimming today and the water was only 67 degrees.
I found the now obligatory pair of glasses , some clad, junk jewellery and a silver pinky ring, I'll take it. Not a very auspicious start to the New Year but at least I didn't get skunked.
Here's the Pics:

The water was flat if a little cool

Met a Canadian couple, Alan and June swinging a Bounty Hunter Surveyor

Hope the rest of you had better luck than I did,

the water in NY was only 7 degrees today AND it's very unusual for this time. Global warming....
Alex.

I watched a travel show today that had Horseshoe Bay on it, beautiful beach! Another co-incidence..I used to live in Cold Lake.

Must be a sign...Time to head for Bermuda?? ;)

Wonderfull pictures ! Too bad for the gold, but guess a slow start doesn't mean you wont find a lot anyway !

Doesn't look like he uses that detector very much.
But not a bad start for 2007 just keep swingin I'm sure you will find plenty loot this season :bouncy:

When my teeth started to chatter half way through that hunt, I thought of you and Luke pushing aside the ice skiffs in order to hunt back home. I had to laugh at myself for getting so soft by living in Bermuda. It's hard to believe that when I lived in Canada I considered it T-shirt weather until Remembrance Day.:lmfao: Pretty soon you'll be riding the ice flows when you go detecting.
Happy New Year Martin! Best regards to Luke as well.

It was nice to meet another detectorist and I gave them a warm welcome and some pointers. (they couldn't understand why they were having problems detecting in the wet sand and the swing was something to behold) Alan was swinging wide arcs 6 inches off the deck in the center of swing and a foot at the ends, all while practically jogging down the beach. He did a lot better once I politely directed him to the dry sand.
Really nice people and they had a lot of fun once they started slowing down and making finds (mostly bullets).
Hopefully, my finds yesterday are not an omen of where my year is headed. Committment is the key.

HH,

Actually, Bermuda has no snakes unless you count some lawyers.:lmfao:
The weather is balmy but you still have seasons (except winter), the scenery is terrific and the people are generally wonderful but even a Bermudian can have a bad day once in a while. No taxes to speak of but everything is very expensive because of how remote we are from everything(shipping and duty can really add up)[a regular bag of potato chips costs between $4 and $6.50 US].
Starting to hear about more people with detectors but maybe I'm just more conscious of it now. Plenty for everyone, I always say.

Living Well in Bermuda,
