Well, I decided to go fight the prarie dogs for more of their treasures. I did not find much at all, this second trip, except some copper and brass pieces. Then I got a 70ish VDI hit and tone and thought I had found maybe another wheat penny. It was only 3-4 inches, and when I dug the dirt out of the hole, I saw this white looking disc. When I picked it up, it had a rose on it. Man, I thought why not a silver dime or something good. Well, I got home and of course, I always check my items to see if they are junk metal with a magnet and it wasn't. I took a couple of pics and sent to my hunting buddy and then stuck the disc under the faucet to clean it off. The grunge came right off and the back was sort of cupped inward. I got the magnifying glass out and there were absolutely no markings on it. Well after a little acid job, it turns out to be .925 silver. It must have been part of some locket or jewelry of some lady years ago. Silver or gold is always good to find in whatever shape we find it.

That's a really neat find! Silver is ALWAYS good to dig. The enamel looks pretty sharp. Usually, the enamel is chipped on finds like that. And on those prairie dogs - don't fight them! They are your friends! So often they bring coins, marbles and other goodies up to the surface for easy finds. Good hunting there Shafer44. Best of luck and...

Happy Hunting!
