Back to that field...

Went back to find that the farmer had plowed! I covered the area again this time with the Pro coil. There was not too much non-conductive to detect but I did find three more store cards and a couple buttons! This makes a total of seven store cards from this one small spot. The top one only gave a tiny peep of a signal, from both directions. I was surprised to see another token. It was fun.
Have to run, HH - BF

Those don't just pop out of the ground everyday!
btw, still no sign of life at the token house. I'm thinking they did the snowbird thing.

Nice going Big Fang.:clapping: Wish I had a spot around here to find that many tokens at. I have only found two good for tokens since I started detecting. Good luck on your next outing. There are sure to be some more tokens at that place. HH.

Wow-seven Civil Wat storecards from the same place. That is really something, especially since they all seem to be in nice shape. I wonder if the original owner just tossed them out once Congress put a stop to them in 1864 or if they were simply lost. Great finds and continued success.

I really can't figure this one out. The only coin I found was one large cent. The residence is on both of my maps (1863 and 1874). It seems like they had little money or at least were very careful with it. So they either only had store cards in their pockets or they gave them to the kids after they became illegal. A friend of mine said the Cassopolis one is an R9! Can hardly beat that!!

Once you brush off the dirt off the Civil War tokens and large cent, you may want to apply a little bit of "Coin Care" to them. It is a fine oil that helps to preserve the surfaces. It does tend to darken the coins somewhat but doesn't harm the finish. Most coin shops or coin supply places carry it. It's made by "Better Bilt Chemicals" in California. A 1 oz. bottle lasts a long time. I use it on all the better copper coins and tokens I find.

That's surprising you haven't found any other coins. What about other things like buttons or farm trash? I usually don't find many coins at farm sites either but sometimes a nice relic or two turns up.

Happy hunting!
