This is a virgin softball field, that's behind a locked chain link fence...interesting story how I got in.
I located all the 5 yard pins (re-bar VDI 33-35) on the football field for the former football coach, who is now an Asst. Superintendent......he then gave me permission to hunt all the schools property any time. I had gone up one morning a couple of weeks ago to hunt this field, and the gate was locked, so I was hunting outside the field between the chain link fence and the parking lot (same area the Pimp Daddy Ring came from). The Asst. Superintendent came over and asked if my detector (Blackie) was any good. I said "yea it's pretty good that's a penny older than 1982 right here", put the Pro Pointer down and flipped him a penny. He was amazed or amused to say the least. He then asked me if I could do him a favor, and locate the corner pins on the football field. I ended up locating them all for him and the athletic director. He offered to open the softball field for me that day, but it was so hot and hadn't rained so I just bided my time 'till the time was right.

This week I hunted the first night in "Ring-ley Field"for a little over 2 hours:
http://www.findmall.com/read.php?79,1521339,1521469#msg-1521469....... the gate into the field is half way between 2nd and third base so I just started basically in the middle and worked towards first base.

The second hunt (this post) I just picked up where I left off towards to chain link behind the first base foul line. My next hunt (maybe tonight) will go from the gate towards third.

Since its so dry I am basically not doing any digging anything over 2-3 inches. I don't even carry a digger just using the screwdriver to pop the goods, cleaning up the ground of all the junk as I go to quieten the area. I do this in all the areas that I plan to hunt on a regular basis.

None of the two hunts has required any time using the AT Pro's pinpointer. I locate a target, waddle the coil back towards me until the target is in front of the coil and then pinpoint with the ProPointer, if it won't buzz, 90% of the time I go to the next target, unless it's a quarter:rofl: or I suspect jewelery.

It's my run and gun style of hunting so I don't dig alot of deep targets the first time I hunt an area. I'll go over this field at least 3 times mopping up targets before I consider it "hunted", so I am just now about half way into my first hunt on this field. Once "hunted" it won't take near as long to go back and rape err harvest  the recent drops and those deeper targets .

The High School marching band uses this softball field to practice on, and the school has a yard sale on it too......LOL.......I assume that's where all the junk and jingle come from. The even marked it in 5 yard increments with paint.......didn't even have to take my flags to grid it off.......:clapping:

It just amazes me at how many mouthpieces and pieces or music instruments I find on fields like this. Sounds like you have a very good spot that you find that often.

Have fun.
