back to my old m6

Justme

Well-known member
I jumped up to a ctx nearly a year ago and circumstances forced me to have to sell my unit. Anyway my m6 was still at the dealer I traded for ctx so I bought it back. Had a 6x10 on it but its been replaced with a stock coil. When I had this unit it was a jam up coin sucker. I out hunted the v3i I purchased with the m6. ( did not understand the v3i well ). Anyway im glad to have my old unit back

Your saying.......Traded M6 for CTX, or Traded M6 for V3i ???? and then went back to M6 ????????

Hi irnwrkr,
Years ago I bought an M6 and had a lot of success,it outhunted many so called top machines on numerous occasions.I then traded it in to buy a minelab sovereign which I also had a lot of success with. When I moved down the coast I did a little beach hunting but then sold the sovereign to get some money to spend on our new house.
I soon missed detecting so I thought i'd get an M6 again which I could use inland and at the beach.....the M6 is one of the best single frequency detectors there is on wet saltwater beaches.I had a lot of great success on the beach with the M6,it paid for itself within a few months by finding many coins and items of jewellry and it always ran stable and was a pleasure to use.
I ended up selling it to buy another machine, the whites beach hunter 300 for the simple fact that most of my detecting is now beach detecting and I wanted a machine that was completely waterproof.
I still say that even today, the M6 is one of the best detectors on the market, simple to use, good in the trash, deep, plenty of coil options and a detector that is good at everything, even saltwater beaches. If mine had been waterproof I would still have it today......i might even get another someday if I start hunting the fields again.
Classy machine that still performs at the top level......brilliant.

All the best,neil.

The M6 is a great machine. It is the machine I started with and i found a over 300+ old coins and trade tokens with it. Put on a 5.3 eclipse for trashier areas and the 9" spider coil and your set. skip the 10" DD and 6x10 DD coil as they are poor performers. I, today am using other machines, but the whites M6 I will always keep...its just a great machine and I still take it out now and then and give it a work out.

Guess I wasnt clear, I owned a v3i and m6 at same time. I outhunted the v3i with the m6. Got rid of both and acquired a ctx which I really liked. Now im getting the m6 back

I have to say I have had a lot of success with the 6x10 even in parks. I keep it on my M6 most of the time.

I had a 6x10 on the m6 and it was awesome on that unit. I guess someone bought the coil. Anyway I'm getting it back with a 950 on it

Now that I've had the Etrac as long as I used the M6 exclusively - about 5 years, I'd have to say that I've found more valuables with the M6. Way more gold items - 2 with the Etrac, 34 with the M6. I can't say enough good about the machine. My 4x6 shooter stays on about 90% of the time. The remaining 10% is shared by the stock coil (Laser pinpointing, great for gold jewelry) and the 5.3.

I usually run the 8x6 on my M6 but the 6x10 Eclipse hits as deep on the M6. Odd because the Eclipse definitely lags behind my 8x6 SEF on the V3i.

I don't use my M6 enough.

I'm getting the new v-rated coil on my m6

Please come back and tell us how you like it....the new v-rated coil. I have the 950 Eclipse(stock) and the 6 x 10 DD Eclipse. I love the 6 x 10...last summer, I found 7 rings!! It is also a real coin hog....I'm thinking about the 13" Detech, so I can get more depth. Any suggestions on how to get more depth with the 6 x 10??

My unit ought to be here by tomorrow or Monday. Since I'm out of town working I won't be able to give report until next weekend. But I will be happy to

Got about a 30 minute hunt with my m6. Found a nickel and two pennies. Went to a very trashy schoolyard I occasionally hunt. The new 950 worked just fine. Pinpoint was right in center of coil. I decided on this schoolyard because of tiny pieces of aluminum. Wanted to see how small of pieces I could locate. It hot some small pieces. On the three coins I did recover the vdi was right on. As of right now I prefer the 6x9, and will acquire one as soon as I can. Had to run sensitivity below preset because a nickel 1" below the surface caused overload.
