Back to beeping again...

Temps here in Southeast Louisiana have been beastly, with highs in the low 100's or high 90's. Likewise,. humidity to drain your very soul away. Ah, but yesterday- lows in the mid 50's, highs in the mid 70's, weather to die for. Loaded up the Sov GT and off to a high school about 15 miles away. No great expectation, no great finds- one quarter, 3 pennies, all clad, but OMG it was a great day to be alive and beeping. Eve though I am fighting what feel like terminal allergies, I'll say it again: it was great to be alive and hunting. Fall is sneaking in and my soul is aroused! All hail to the relic goddess, Patina!

I know the feeling. Last winter due to heavy snow cover I wasn't able to hunt for about two months. A friend and I finally couldn't take it anymore and so started driving through a large park hoping to find perhaps a grove of pine trees that would have kept the snow cover from being so thick. We managed to find a wind swept part of a field that must really funnel high winds because it was the only patch of green grass we had seen all day. I was ready to dig any kind of junk and be happy to do it. Ended up with a silver dime that day that I think was a merc. That was the first outing with the 15x12 too. I'm looking forward to getting out to some of my wooded locations that have too much ground/brush cover in the summer months. I've got one spot we did fairly well at last year and we haven't even gridded it yet. We attempted to hunt it this summer but it was too thick. Also have a few other spots in mind that I've found but are just too thick until winter hits.

Yes Sir Mr. Smith it's great to get out in this beautiful weather and country and enjoy life and the thing's you love to do. Maybe next time you'll pull a wheatie or a silver to make the experience even better. Went out today for awhile myself and all I got were clad, but the color's on the trees were beautiful and the geese were in the air and the sky was deep blue. It couldn't get much better.
Good hunting , Gary

If you have tree color and geese, I suspect that you are not in South Louisiana. Where' s home for you?
