Back on the coin trail

Hi all. Have been out detecting again at our favorite spot - the local Showgrounds - for an hour today after work. I am sure that I have a case of "Detector Arm" - it feels like someone has repeatedly punched me in the arm, so digging was not too much fun, but did manage to find some coins. All are decimal (post 19666), so not too interesting, but for the last three trips out, I have found nothing but ring pulls, nails, foil, and other miscellaneous rubbish:thumbdown: So finding these has restored my interest. There are 4 x $2.00 and a five cent piece I found on the surface. So my total for the arvo was $8.05, not bad for five coins. I hope they never stop making these $2.00 coins as they are by far the most common find, I guess they are nice and small and are heavy so are easy to lose. They are great to detect as they give a very distinctive signal. I will post more as I find more, but at the rate I am going, it may be a slow process:rofl:

Great finds... It does seem that when "junk"
is all you find for a while any good find brings
back faith that I know what Im doing!!

Good ,Safe And happy Hunting

Nice hunt!:thumbup:Yeah it's easy to get sore from overdoing it with detecting. It's helpful to do some stretching exercises before and after a hunt.:wiggle: Hey, I'm just curious, where do those Australian two dollar coins ring up on the conductivity scale on the Ace 250? Just curious:biggrin:Happy Hunting:)

Sure would be nice if the U.S. Mint would put $2 coins in circulation.
Could make for a nice coin shooting day for sure.
Nice going on yours....keep on digging ! Gene

The following photo shows where the $2.00 coin hits every time (the missing discrimination mark is the place marker as I thought it was the best way to highlight it). They give a great signal, so are very hard to miss which makes them a lot of fun. Am looking forward to finding more coins, and some pre-decimal would be great, but persistence is the name of the game, so will just keep plodding along.

looks like I might have to whatch out Carla is learning fast,we laugh about the detector arm,, I had detector legs after our first outing, could hardly walk for about 3 days:stretcher:

Thanks for showing the screen. Man, they need to start getting $2 coins in U.S.
circulation. Would be like shooting fish in a barrel. Hit the right spot and you
could really come home with the loot. Do you have any common trash items that
normally hit at the same spot as your $2 coin ? Just wondering.
Yeah, persistence is the name of the game. I can see that you have that without
a doubt. Good hunting to you whaddawoman ! Gene

Better be careful what you show her Whadda. I think she has discovered
some of your secret hunting methods already. Looking forward to seeing
great finds from both of you.....just don't overdo it. HH Gene

Congrats on the $2.00 coins find.:clapping:
We have the same problem up here with finding those.

Alloy Screw Caps register at the same place as $2.00, but when pin pointing the coins have a very small sharp area, and the caps are larger, but still sharp. Haven't learnt to distinguish between them very well yet but after I did a million or so I am sure to get the hang of it!:lmfao:

Thanks for the answer whaddawoman. Maybe raising the coil some you may
notice some difference between the two. Not sure as I don't have the Ace250.
Either that or just keep on digging. At $2 a pop I wouldn't complain too much myself.
Have a good time out there ! Gene
