Back to an empty lot today for about 2 and 1/2 hours . Ive dug 5 silver dimes there 10 wheats. Tried my zero disc. mode on my GTI and it really seem to help me sort thrrough the targets better. $2.09 clad, the usual copper and brass scrap for me. I finally locked on a good nickel target there at 4 inches that turned out to actually be a nickel, A 1955 jefferson. The 1944 mercury dime was 7 inches deep and gave a faint signal but imaged as coin size. As I started digging the signal got better and i new it would be good. As some of this field has been filled in with rocky dirt it makes me wonder what the detector cant reach. also hit a 57d wheat about 4 inches from the nickel 3 inches deep. Cant figure out why its paper thin. The front looks legible. The back you can faintly see one cent w/ the wheat leafs. Its so thin however if the back was worn this much I would think nothing would be left. Maybe an error planchet, I could easily bend it with my fingers. From previous finds here it looks like these coins were lost in the 50s so I dont see how it could have worn so thin being a 57d. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Trying my new camera out for the first time. I sure hope theres an improvement on my pics.
