I picked up an SE Pro from a local forum member along with The Explorer and E Trac handbook. I sold my Exp 2 about 6 years ago but wanted to get back into the hobby. I need headphones, pinpointer, and a lesche digging tool. I am looking for the "must know " info on the SE and any suggestions on what headphones and pinpointer to look at would be appreciated. I had the Sunray pinpointer on my old Exp 2 which was nice but don't want to spend that much if I don't have to. Thank you in advance for all the advice.
 
The x-1 is no longer being made. If you wanted to go back to one you must pick up a usrd one. With that said and you mentioned you wanted something less exspensive so, I would pick up a Garret Propointer.
As far as headphones my opionion would be DetectorPro GreyGhosts.

Welcome back to the hobby! I just picked up an SE Pro recently myself, I recommend Garrett ProPointer and GrayGhosts are excellent as MikeO said, but I am currently using Sun Ray Pro Golds and absolutely love them. As far as info, that book you have is just what you need. I am reading the same and am learning a lot. Just be patient with yourself and the machine, it's a powerhouse! Good luck and go find some!
 
if you don't want to spend the money for a used X-1 or a new one (some dealers still have some)...then the next best option is the Garrett pro pointer.

As for the headphones...almost everyone I meet up with or hunt with use the Sunray Pro Golds and here's a link to check out...

First and foremost if you used the 11 just like riding a bike and all will fall into place...Garrett pro pinpointer gets my nod but with headphones might try out a some at your local dealer...Lots of diggers out there but Lesche makes a variety of the best.. Welcome back and enjoy....
 
Welcome back to the Explorer. The SE is a little more "noisy" than the EX2 but you will love it...especially since you are already familiar with the EX2. I made the same transition a few years ago and love the SE. I too use the Sunray headphones like most other coin hunters and a Lesche digger. I also have and love the Predator Raptor digger. It is one strong helper.:beers:
