Back in ER today...

...it started out a beautiful day. I took Brian and his best friend Garrett(human) to the park to MD a little (can you believe 3 days in a row?) this morning. They found a few pennies then lost interest and played pirates or some such imaginitive game so I swung the Garrett (metal detector) for awhile. We broke for lunch then went to their old school to play on the playground until it just got to hot stay outdoors. Brian and Garrett(the human) were playing a video game when I heard Brian crash to the floor. He immediately called out that he had broken his left femur, so off to the ER we flew, and sure enough it is a clean break all the way through the middle of the bone. Fortunately the rod in the femur kept the bone in place preventing a very, very(much more) painful experience.

We go tomorrow to see what the ortho wants to do. He is due a rod replacement but please pray he just casts it as Brian has been through too much so far this year.

Thanks and God bless,

and Doug and the rest of the family. I know it is tuff.

My heart breaks for that little man! Tell hime Mike is praying over time for him!

...the rods were in good shape so all that was needed was a cast from his hip to his toes. He chose blue this time. He'll wear the cast for 3 weeks and then it will be split some how to allow movement of the knee joint.

He'll be up and detecting in no time!!

God bless,

I wish I could take on some of his pain. No kid should have to endure what he has. I pray that I c ould have just have a smalll hint of his strength.

If he could, he would gladly share his strength, but never would he wish to share his pain. Remember..."God made me perfect, only different!"

He is dealing with it the best he can. I'm up now, 5:20am, because he needed a deep suction to clear his trach and I can't get back to sleep. I have a 10 hour day of work ahead so will try to get a couple more hours. I would write an essay of what one 24 hour day is like under these circumstances but I'm just too tired most of the time.

I hope you get to hit the beach this weekend.

God bless Joe and thanks for your prayers!
