Ran into some finacial difficulties awhile back and had to quickly liquidate my detectors. I've been wanting to try a Whites machine for quite awhile and set my sights on an MXT. In my limited experience detectors with a little higher frequency seem to work better in the mineralized ground here in CA so I decided the MXT would be a good choice. Well I found a great deal on one. Guy I got it from said he got it second hand from someone who kept it behind the seat of a pickup, and it shows. 950 coil looks new, some pretty good scratches on the box,and couple dings(but no holes)on the screen. Took it on a very short hunt last weekend and it works flawlessly. I had been a little worried about weight since I'm used to First Texas machines that are quite a bit lighter. But I have to confirm what other users have said "balance makes the difference". With the battery box between the hand and elbow it is very comfortable to swing I know I'm going to love this detector. I'm sure I will soon have questions about adding coils but I want to learn as much as I can with the stock coil first. Gave $200 and a left over coil from a previously owned detector for this and could'nt pass it up.

Congrats And welcome back! I am new to the world of the MXT as well. I recently traded a Minelab X-terra 705 for a clean MXT Pro with the SEF 8x6 butterfly coil. I purchased a 950 coil about a week ago as well. My only other experience with a White's machine was a DFX. I wanted something simple but with VDI. I think I have found a keeper with this MXT Pro. Good luck and Happy Hunting:detecting:

I would say you got a heck of a deal for the MXT. I've used my MXT since they've come out and it's still one mighty fine machine. Just trust your machine. Congrats on getting your machine and can't wait to hear what all you've found with it. HH, Nancy
