Back in Black with the Etrac!!:clapping:

Jeff in Pa

Well-known member
I got my new Etrac today from Bart, (Thanks Bart!) (My first one was used) and put her together so I could give her a short maiden voyage:cheekkiss:.

I had a half hour to squeeze in before dark. I got real crappy signal jumping from 12 to 35, the thing was the conductive side was saying Indian all the way!! One of those when you hit quick mask its goes straight to 35 ferrous due to iron but I have dug many, many Indians so I was very sure of it.

First dug target with her! I luv my Etrac!!! :cheekkiss::cheekkiss::clapping:

PS:

Don you can go ahead and say it, should of listened to you!

Jeff Congrats on the Indian. This was my first season with the E-Trac and the one thing I did all season was when I would hit a good high tone and switch to quick mask it too would drop down to FE 34-35 so I would walk away. I always had the feeling that I was passing up good targets. Your the first one on this forum along with your comment to Don that says other wise. I'm going to start digging those repeatable high tone down there just to see if its a mistake that I've been makeing all year. Maybe I can start finding my first Indians. When it comes to Indians I want to be just like G4E.Jeff63 Oh !! yesterday I turned 66 but I can still get up and down. HH

Nice Indian. I've only found one Indian in four years with my ETrac (and I found it when it was nearly new).

As I tell my hunting buddies, I will never sell my ETrac!

Please understand that it wasn't the Indian doing that, it was the iron. Iron will fool you. This one I spent 3 minutes circling it trying to find one straight line that would get the tip of the Pro coil into the coin and I did find a "Small spot Strip" that would give me a nice 13 34. That does not always happen though. Sometimes when you are more than not confident its a coin you and you have trouble hitting a "Sweet Spot" try tilting your coil tip up off the grass. This way you are using a smaller "Strong" section of the detection field and it will at times help you make sure whats down there.

I spend alot of time over an "Iffy" target thats 6" or more because I hate to dig junk.

Think of the area around the coin as a pool table and the only ball yoy can touch is the Cue hitting the 8 ball. You need to Thread the cue through the other balls "Junk" in order to get to the 8 ball. I am sure you know that the DD coils have a small strip of detection down the center and that is all you should be looking at while circling a target.

Remember playing "Carroms" on the Carrom board? Same principle applies

Just my .02 cents

Good score in a VERY short time to hunt!! Have to love digging those Indian Heads. Was this in your yard?

I'm happy to hear you got a brand new E-trac! I don't think you can go wrong with one of these. Mine has been very good to me.

That's GREAT! Just goes to show you that there's always something there. I seems like we never get it all.
