Back from the USA...1st jetlagged hunt!

Hi guys

Just got back from 3 weeks in the USA. Thanks so much to SoCalBeachScanner for allowing me to use your shipping address :)

The trip was fantastic and I still cannot believe how cheap the gas is in the USA....3 1/2 times cheaper than NZ! And the roads are like racetracks compared to little old New Zealand. Thank god for GPS cellphones.

We spent three weeks driving from LA to SF and down the #1 to San Diego and back. Overall an awesome trip and thanks all for your advice!

Anyway yesterday after three weeks of no detecting decided to 'work off the jetlag' (13 hours to Sydney and another 3 to NZ argh) with a trip to a beach that historically has sucked for me. Heavily mineralised, lots of black sand intermingled with normal sand and hot rocks (my favourites). There was a big cut at the top of the beach, yielding a few silver coins from the 1930s.

Also went into the water with the ATX for an hour.

Awesome hunt, maybe some luck involved. Big decent mens gold bracelet and a gold ring (4 small diamonds)

Went to the same spot again today and totally struck out...just sinkers and a few coins...happens like that

You have the best beaches of anyone that still posts around here by far. That is more gold in "just one hunt after I got back from vacation to get rid of jet lag, no big deal" than most of us get in a year at the rate of recent finds. Admit it, even if just for a fleeting second you were wondering why you were spending time in the USA when you could be hauling fat gold like that at home! I am seriously considering a detecting trip to NZ and it's all because of you! Good show, keep the rest of us pirates entertained!

WOW! Yeah, what Grilled Scallops said! Thats fat gold alright! Glad you had a nice time here with SoCal! :clapping:

Thanks guys for the comments. I truly think there is gold at every beach. Just need to look in the right spots! Our beaches are no where near as populated as yours. Would love to have a specific detecting trip to the US! But yes....was itching to get back detecting again after three weeks

dmnz, just wondering about the amount of detecting your beaches receive ? What machines your competitors use, what you used before the ATX. Could make an interesting read. As you know our beaches here in the states are heavily pounded with a big variety of machines swung by some very experienced and sometimes not experienced hunters.
Sometimes I think, before a coin reaches the sand, there's a scoop waiting to catch it. Keep the great posts coming.

The right spots, alright! It's called a big mass of land to the South East of Australia! No but really, come and detect our beaches all you want. I'll trade you beaches, even  Also, I second all of Dancer's questions.
