Wasn't quite as far north as where John is, but spent seventeen pleasant days water and dirt fishing up in Minnesota. Most of the water fishing was with rod and reel. Got back to Tn weather mid day yesterday. BLAH!
Used the A T Pro most of the time, but it did share a little time with my F 75. The A T, however, got the vast majority of the older coin finds. It sniffed out 3 silver dimes, 1 war nickel, 1 buffalo nickel, the 1903 I H, 5 of the wheat cents and the small thin sterling ring. The oldest wheat was 1917 with 2 others in the 30's. All the silver coins came out of a 120 or so year old fairgrounds. Which, I have been hunting for over 25 years during our annual jaunts up to the area. 3 of the wheat cents and little ring came from the beach sand. For some reason there are few targets out in the water. The modern coins came to a little over $8.00 and there are always a few pieces of junk jewelry and other curios to keep things interesting.
This morning my hunting buddy and I hooked up for a hunt on a 60's to 80's era demoed housing area. It is just on the cusp for yielding wheats and more recent era silver. We've snagged close to 50 silver coins from the spot this summer and we each scored silver again this morning. Chris hit a silver Rosie almost right out of the box. It took me close to three hours before I finally got my coil over a silver........but it was worth the wait. From about 4" and on edge I recovered the 64 Kennedy half and a little while later my last dug target for the day was the 64 Rosie. Along the way I managed 5 wheats.
I had a NEL Sharpshooter coil waiting for me when we returned from Mn and I had it on all morning and recovered coins down to 7" with it. I was running in Pro Zero, 0 disc, Sen maxed and iron audio off. The A T Pro really is one terrific all around detector.
The first couple of shots are Mn recoveries and the last three are this mornings hunt. HH jim tn
