Hi folks ! I got back yesterday from a two weeks trip in Puerto Plata, Domenican republic. We had the most perfect weather I,ve ever seen there. Not a cloud for 13 days in a row!
Night flying is a bit disturbing, but that was the only option avaiable on last minute request, so we had to do with it. After all, it's only a 3 and 1/2 hours flight... and that is fortunate because the economy class is really not thinkd for a 6'3'' tall man!
I knew they dumped sand on the beach a couple of months ago, so i really wasn't expecting mutch... thank godd because that is exactly what i have found
My little spots were virtually gone, covered with 8 feet of sand.
Here are a views of the before and after...

On the first picture you can see the flag pole is close to the edge and on the second, it's really far away ! The only place they didn't dumped sand is a bit far away from my hotel, on the bay where the Allegro Continental hotel is located and that is where i tryed my luck. But even there, signals were scarce. I know a local guy detects there but he left a few recent signals behind.
I only went out 4 times since the results were so poor, so total detection time is a bit over 6 or 7 hours in early morning.
Only interresting finds were a big silver chain and a brand new pair of Michael Kors sunglasses.

But of course, those vacations weren't dedicated to detection, so i'm just a bit disapointed about it. For the rest is was just pure fun!
We tryed the truck safari and it was fun for me, but the main objective were secluded falls in a very narrow canyon and the climbing was just too raugh for my wife, so she and my son waited for me downfalls.

The hotel we stayed at is the same we had two years ago. It's the Viva Wyndham and it was just as good as it was two years ago... they even improved some details, so all in all we had a great time.
Here is my son at the very nice pool area...

The animation team are almost all professional dancers and the hotel nvest a lot into their evening shows production. They have lots of costumes, good lighting, sound and even visual effects.

Food was really good. It isn't a five star hotel but we always managed to get interresting food and varity was interresting. The beach restaurant had a weekly BBQ witch provided a very interresting ambiance.

I didn't got on the scale yet, but i bet my diet was flushed down the drain after this experience... well i didn't exagerated and hate a lot of fresh fruits and cooked vegetables and fish to limit the damages...
Well that's about it for now... still a bit shaken by the night flight on return. A passenger sitting two rows behind us had an ACV attact or a hearth attact and the flight crew had their hands full and called "is there a doctor on the plane?" on the PA system. Fortunatly there was one on the first class (of course!) and the passenger was trated and went out first with the ambulance once we got at the airport.
