Holy cow! Water water eveywhere. One beach I wanted to check out was so flooded, I couldn't even get into the state park.
I did get one good beach to hunt, found a 1935 quarter, and a bunch of change,
.
Nothing fantastic, but I did see a derailed train, saw a bald eagle flying sideways in gusty wind near the Iowa Minnesota line.
Rain, wind, wow!!
Heading back to Clear lake Iowa in the next couple of days for a one dayer at the state park there.
Clear lake is where Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper, and Richie Valens played their last gig before dying in a plane crash, after taking off from the Clear Lake airport later that winter nite.
I ever so dimly remember hearing about it on the radio the next morning.
This of course was later immortalized as "The day the music died'
The old Surf Ballroom is still there, odd, I've never gone in, but passed it a few times.
Oh well, I'm looking for gold, not old pictures.:detecting:

Well OK, maybe it should be. Anyway, it sounds like you had a really interesting trip and had way more fun than you would have had if you had stayed at home.
All I can say is "WTG"
Life is a journey, not a destination.

BDA:cool:

If you like Buddy Holly, you should check out his museum in Lubbock, TX, where he is from. They even have a street named after him, I think.

Some of my most memorable hunts would be considered total treasure failures. but, I look back on them and often laugh at the things we saw and did.
Happy hunting all.:clapping:
