Back from a long vacation

Out in the middle of nowhere north central Oregon, we came across a site of about a 2 year old or so helicopter crash. It was very strange that the remains were never carted out as it appeared as though the pilot could not have made it out alive. However, if there was no other option than to come in or go out of the road we were on, I completely understand as it was extremely slow and somewhat hectic.

My son insisted on having his picture taken next to it... I know, how special

is interesting. Did you take many pictures while on vacation? Thanks for sharing this photo and story. :clapping: Kelley (Texas) :)

I took a ton of pictures, probably 6-800. Most of them will be family oriented containing the kids and whatnot. I'll post some as I go through them.

Interesting photo. I metal detect a site up in Maine where a B-52 crashed many years ago and still find some interesting pieces. They picked up what was on top but did not excavate the site.

Now, I get it where you said that grave site was not far from the helicopter wreckage. I used to work for a helicopter service. I was wondering if it was a Bell 206. http://www.salt-aire.com/bell206.jpg However, even though I cannot see the entire site, there doesn't seem to be enough wreckage to be that of a Bell 206. Wonder if it was an experimental helicopter that you can buy, like a kit?

My father in law, who was with us, is in the aircraft industry. He sells private jets here locally in Oregon. He said it's definately a Bell 46g

Bet that your father in law is right on the money. Not enough debris for a 206, but the tubing, etc. definitely could be from a 46.
