I've been staying away from the forum only because reading about metal detecting always makes me want to go out! Managed a quick hunt yesterday to test out the old back. Felt fine. Decided today to try out my favorite hunting style. That is, up early, out early, home early. Now the problem with my scheme was that I neglected to compensate for the change of sunrise from when I was doing this in early August. I got to my site and it was still pitch black. No problem. Back light on, headlamp on. First find was a presidential dollar coin. Unusual. Thought that might bode well for things to come. Just before dawn out pops 10K gold, school ring. Yippee Skippy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will be easy to find the owner which I will do on Monday. Made a big circle around the property and as I approached my truck I made my famous, "One more find and then quit, Chris," statement. Last find was the 1888 Canadian dime, only two inches deep. It was still not fully light out and I thought it was a Barber dime until I got home. My second oldest silver coin find. I don't have a guidebook of Canadian coins. Is it a common date? Worth anything? It would grade about fine. Stopped one more place on the way home for half an hour just to see what was there. Have to get back there ASAP. About 30 coins, mostly quarters, in half an hour. Here's everything:

Here's the dime and a cool pin:

Here's the other side of the dime and a cool pendant. It was way too dark to look for the other eye which was probably still in the hole:

I read back a few pages on the forum. I seem to have missed a lot in a week! Maybe later I'll get fully caught up.
