Back before the Beatles became famous ...

... well before they made fame as the Beatles and well before the Beatles premiered on the Ed Sullivan show, they played in small local clubs in the NE United States.

They took on a local guitarist who convinced the young English blokes from Liverpool to call the group "The Cockroaches". After starving for gigs, due party to their band's name, they replaced the local guy from the NE USA and eventually earned fame and fortune.

Here is a rare 1963 photo of that original group, "The Cockroaches".

Here's a couple, 2, 3 shots for you all... 1 scanned and un-retouched from back then, 1965, black and white... and two from a couple of years ago working onna project here in "Gaf-Land"...

This B & W shot here has two of my closest friends EVER and they are brothers... Buddy and Tommy. At the time, I believe we were playing a "College Mixer" for the Waterbury Branch of UCONN .... As you can see, all of the folks there were a "L" of a lot older than us...

Have been playing all kindza muzak with these guyz since grammar school... and golf with them since high school. Tommy's my barber too  Morris, in the B & W shot was a short lived member/player... replaced by Bud & Tom's cousin, Bill. If you care to give a listen to Billy's stuff, turn yer speakers on, click on this link http://www.myspace.com/billcalabrese and click on/audition "Katrina"... give you an idea of what we sounded like.. albeit, Billy tracked everything himself... but, you'll get an idea/earful of a real "Beatles-esque"/influenced track ....

BTW HardWare Man, yuh got me "pasted" on George's Body... Wish I had his guitar....
