After a couple of days of not swinging, got back at it this morning hitting two different spots. Spent most of my time on the first spot and it yielded the 1896 IH cent, 2 wheats and 44 Merc and 46 Rosie, along with some clad.

The second spot was on my way home and as it had yielded me the 1840o Seated dime the other day on a short hunt, decided to give it a short hunt again. Got one of the wheats there, a few pieces of clad, the compact and whats it, that might be a candle stick holder. But that is just a guess. Guys and gals, the compact was deeper then the Pro Pin Pointer. I was thinking can lid being that deep. As I was leaving, tabman was pulling in. He was ready to do some serious digging.

Unlike most IH's dug around here, this one, although well worn, looked pretty nice right out of the ground. After soaking for a while and some olive oil cleaning, it cleaned up quite well.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. HH jim tn

Mighty fine! :clapping: I hope you tossed out a handful of zincs so Tab has something to find! You guys keep on huntin' ya hear? We have been so socked in, I cant remember a Dec this bad for coil work..'course, only been working the coil for a few years, but still...I hope you are getting your year end totals put together for a nice post.

Glad you got out and found some good stuff. I never get tired of seeing those mercury dimes you find and the rosie ain't bad. It's just the mercury is in a different class than the rosie. They're both silver, but I prefer mercury dimes. Nice date on the IH penny. Too bad the compact wasn't stuffed with coins or bills.

Jim you had a great day! That Indian Head penny is in great shape. All you left in your dust were some rotten zinc pennies, a few clad coins, a few nickels and a ole junk ring.

I hoping to find a class ring, but it didn't pan out. :detecting:

Well, I'm glad I don't have to follow you around, Jim. You could have at least left Tabman the Rosie!
That is a good lookin' Indian cent. I don't know why they seem to be so elusive around here.
Happy New Year to you and to all the shut ins!

Really sweet Jim! Weather and family obligations have shut down my swing time for a while.

Good job Jim, these silver coins rejoice the day and the Indian Chief is very good for his age ...
I was unable to understand that it is the tin box, and I'm curious ...
Thanks for sharing, happy new year to all

Interesting finds and that I.H. does look nice. I know what it's like with coppers in poor soil, it can be tough to bring them back.
