Hi

I asked recently about a good detector for around the 300 dollar mark.

Well turns out my dad wants to spend more. The moths are going to lose their home.

Looking to spend about $750.

The detector will need to work on beaches, parks, farm fields.... just about everywhere.

Should be able to detect gold and all other metals.

Go deep and be accurate.

EASY TO USE. This is very important for my dad.

Thank you very much for the past information any new information would be great,
Brad

You should be able to get a great machine in that price range. KellyCo has place where you can compare 3 machines at a time. This should narrow the field as far as what you desire in a detector. There are some great deals by sponsers here on this forum that will be more than happy to help you with your decision once you narrow the field. Good Luck and HH.:minelab::tesoro::detecting:

As long as its not natural gold your after then the one really simple machine that covers most aspects of treasure hunting is the Minelab Sovereign.

I would take a look at the White's MXT. It's so easy to use and has 3 different modes ...coin and jewelry, relic and gold plus it also has a salt setting for the beach. IF a detector isn't easy to use many older people (well not just older) get discouraged with it and quit. The MXT is a turn on and go detector. I knew absolutely nothing about detecting when I bought one years ago and I'm still in love with it. Plus White's has EXCELLENT customer service. That is very important to me.

Hi

Thank you all very much for the information.

Now does it matter that this is used on fresh water beaches as well as salt water?

I will not be looking for natural gold but ring and jewelry and things.

You mentioned natural gold? Is there an issue finding it because of purity and will this effect finding higher purity levels of gold jewelry?

Thank you very much for the information so far. This is one of the nicest forums I have been on.

CZ's and Sov's handle saltwater beaches very well and certainly would handle all your needs..Of course the CZ is user friendly and lighter while the Sov. offers more info
on its meter and thru a bunch of varous sound pitches for particuliar targets with a learning period..A good idea is go and see your multiline dealer to try them on for size so to speak..

Whites MXT or M6.

Prepare him for a learning curve, regardless of which machine you choose. No Bounty Hunters they work well for some, but I find other machines to have more intuitive controls. I have read they don't always run well on the beach. Word is a Sov can't be beat on the beach.

Buy a minelab Safari...

Sings to you

I agree with the people that said go with the MXT. Even the M6 a rung lower
than the MXT and about the same money your looking to spend. The
customer service can't be beat, although Garrett seems to be trying hard.

If you want to cover everything but small gold nuggets, the Minelab Sovereign is about the only one that is reasonable.
It will work "properly" in wet salt beach sand" and everywhere else. I have never used any other land machine that can match the Sovereign.
A Fisher CZ would be 2nd place. BUT-If weight of detector is important, these are not featherweights, like a Tesoro or Bounty Hunter. But Tesoros and BH's will not handle wet salt sand and maintain any kind of depth-if they work at all on wet salt! All that I ever had, see the wet salt as a target and beep almost constantly!

Don't over look the Minelab x-terra series. Really good detectors that are easy to use and should cover all your bases. Afordable too.

Minelab is the only one that does it all. Especially salt water. Chest or Hip mount suggested. Good Luck

Most freshwater beaches can be hunted with a single frequency detector-most saltwater requires more than 1 freq in operation at a time. CZ is 2 and Minelab 17 and more.

X-terra 705 or the MXT will work well. I have used both on land and the beach.
