Aynone have a hack(s) for the Land Star?

All electronic equipment is subject to modification, usually to improve the performance. That said, has anyone on this forum ventured as far as seeing what they could do with the Land Star? If Yes, what was it that you tried to improve? And if Yes, was it a successful hack or did it result in less performance and were you able to undo it?

The hacks I would consider doing if I was electronically talented would be adding tones to the detector so that I could separate between the copper cent and dime, a different tone for each. Another really important hack would be manipulating the detector to accept wet sand at the (salt) beach.

How about you Land Star owners, anything else you'd like to improve that could be hackable?

For those not familiar with the term "hack" here is a definition:
Hack has several meanings in the technology and computer science fields: a clever or quick fix to a computer program problem; a clumsy or inelegant solution to a problem; or a modification of a program or device to give the user access to features that were otherwise unavailable to them.

Most of the Bounty Hunters chips are hard soldered to the board, and the programs and such are also burned into an EEPROM that would take a lot of doing to change...Adding Electronics or circuits onto the board is possible, but I am not THAT good... I imagine one could add a numerical readout, alter the tones frequencies, make an amplifier for the speaker, add volume control, etc....
