Axe time period

New member
Hello folks. Can anyone tell me the period when this axe/hatchet was used or made. Thanks for any help.

Nice find!!
I can't tell the era, but a friend found one similar to it around an old house site a couple of years ago.
I found an 1832 dime at this site also, so I'm guessing it is early to mid 1800's.
If you look at the axehead from above, you may dicover that the "eye" is off to one side.
If so, it is probably a "hewing axe".
I would guess yours is at least as old as the one my buddy found.
Hopefully someone else can give you some more information on it.
You can use electrolosys on it and it should turn out very nice an preserved.
Hope this helps some,
Felix

The eye is equal or centered. Yes, i'm going to use electrolosys. It'll be the biggest piece i've done.
Thanks for the info Felix

Looks very similar to one in my American Revolution Collector's Encyclopedia dating from mid to late 1700's. Oval eye?

Thanks, Ex-Sox.

Cleaned up.
