AXE HEADS...........TO KEEP OR NOT TO KEEP??

Are some axe heads worth more than others? Where I live logging was huge a century ago and I often find axe heads, some in the lake and some on land. Most of the time I leave them behind. Some from the lake still have the handle's. amazing how the cold water and mud preserve them. Here's an old logger's pic with local mill stamped on it. BIGELOW.

In a word yes, depending on the maker and type.They can be desireable to those who are looking for a certain name and brand.feebay can give you a idea on pricing as well as internet search.For example real Hudson bay,McNealy,swedish named axes etc.uncommon brands hand forged.Home this helps.....PS There is alwas a market for older wood working tools as collerctibles.I myself search for axe heads time from time

I've dug a number of just run of the mill, so to speak, axe heads at old logging camps. The better ones would be worth putting in a new handle, polishing up and sharpened, if I needed an axe, but for the most part I don't think they have any great monetary value. Like a number of iron relics, they are interesting and fun to dig, but heavy and in the end what do you do with them?
