Awesome Sunday Morning

Took a trip to an 'old' baseball field early this morning (before sun-up). Spent 2 hours there and got 2 silver quarters (1944 and 1952) from one hole, and then 3 feet away from that hole I got a sweet nickel sound. I dug it and said no way ! Shielded Nickel ... 1869 .... my 1st one !

Oh, and the clad ... $7.80.

Man. That would be a grandslam of a day for me. Congrats!
How deep?

Question though: You picked up that much in clad with an 11"DD coil? Or were you using a smaller coil? ( I find the recovery time a bit slow with the Etrac in the stock coil and for that matter any bigger coil over 8").

Thanks.

The silvers -- 6 - 7 inches deep.

The nickel was about 4 inches.

I use the stock coil and find it to be as quick as my X-Terra 705 and my AT Pro, not had any problems with speed or the lack of it. The recovery time can be a little slow, but it all depends on how you have it set up with all it's options.

I have mine set with a coin / jewelry setting so I can hunt for either at the same time without having to change the settings or patterns etc.

That is an awesome morning!!!

Congratulations on your first Shield Nickel! Thanks for the pictures.

I enjoyed the little website tour of your finds, detectors and the hobby info! Great organization! Thanks for that as well!

That's a great hunt and the clad could pay for lunch.
