Great website, I just saved it to my favorites!!!!!!

The old Sanborn fire maps have been a staple of the researcher for years. They have always been on paper and were often wither hard to find or costly. Im glad to see they have finally gone digital. The only problem is you must be an authorized institutional subscriber to use them, from what I can make of it. AM I missing something?

sadly, none of the towns around me are on that site:sadwalk: And they were all founded over 100 years ago. I guess no one submitted any maps to the website.. But my parents town is on there!!!!

Not necessarily. You may be able to access them if your local library has online access to them. For instance, all I have to do is log in to my library system's database site, enter my library card number and I can view them from the comfort of my own home! It's worth checking it out!

Thats fantastic! I will spend the next week downloading my town before they catch on to all the traffic!
BTW, the maps have always been overlaid, ie, the following over the preceding, so go way back and work your way forward.

Where can I find an internet map that the image isn't three years old? Seems like all the map providers use the same satellite scan that was done years ago.......Get dirty....DirtyDon

Weird.. No trouble here. I just tried it now to see if maybe it went down,
but it still works here. I'd been there before, as my browser had
saved the name and password..
