Awesome night and I need some ID help

Got out with my father-in-law tonight to hit a spot where we've pulled old chinese coins, one silver 1928 quarter and a bunch of wheats.

I moved up to another location, got a great signal and dug a 1787 Carolus III coin, a 1907 Tio Ore (sweden) 10 coin a coin with a 1 on it from 1895(still trying to clean it up) and a silver coin who I need help with identifying (the one on the bottom)

It was a great night for sure.

Thanks for looking!

Sounds like a really good day! Both of those look like silver. You should try posting on the Whatzit Forum to see if someone can ID them.

I think it is a Mexican Reale.

Awesome finds!!!
Congrats

I figured the one out on the bottom. It's a Turkish coin. I wonder if I stumbled onto someone's coin collection or if there was just that kind of variety of immigrants who came to work the oil fields at the turn of the century? We stumbled upon an old settlement which keeps turning up as many questions as it does finds.

The mint mark on the reale is P M so I think that is from Peru so I'm going to check. You just never know what you'll find in the ground.

What I believe you have is actually a coin from Egypt. A one Qirsh silver. Accession date: AH 1293 (year 27)... roughly translates to the year 1901.

I couldn't find the exact year and denomination as yours on-line, but look up (Egypt 1 qirsh silver AH 1293 year 27) and you'll get one pretty close to yours.

Also, look up Cointalk.com Egyptian coinage 1805 - 1952 for info about reading an Egyptian coin.

Nice find,
Matt

Good call on that one Matt. The similarities to other arabic coins/countries is what drew me to thinking it was Turkish. I think I stumbled upon someone's coin collection that has been buried in the dirt for a 100 years. The area I found these hasn't had a house on it for at least 80-90 years. It's mind blowing.

Sweeeeeeeeet reale(s)... good job. cch
