Awesome machine

Got given an xterra 70 a couple of weeks ago and been playing around at a few sites. Had a bit of success in picking up $20 in coins in a couple of hours. Hit a park this arvo for about 10 mins and picked up another $11 in coins, all $ 2 and $1,s . just can,t believe how easily identifiable the ones and twos are. This machine just sniffs em out so well. Needless to say i,m hitting the park tomorrow for a couple of hours. Got to admit this little machine really does live up to all the positive reviews and accolades it gets. I have had a couple of purpose gold detectors but the exterra is just so much more fun with the lite weight and flexibility it gives in being able to hit an old goldfield and switch between treasure and nugget hunting . Haven't found any gold with it yet but after using a 2100 and then going into the same country with the xterra i,m quietly confident i will find gold with it. Yes i am rapt with it.

I really had some serious doubts about selling my MXT to buy my X-70. Now, I wonder why I waited so long.

YES, the X-70 is for the most part IS better than the MXT from everything I have heard. BUT I heard from 2 people that the Tracking in very bad high mineralized ground was better on the MXT but no difference and the same in normal mineralized ground. Secondly some very big coils are available for the MXT like up to the18" round and 15x18" SEF and now I heard the 17x21" SEF is new.

I own an X-70 but I have never owned an MXT. Could someone answer this question for me please. I wonder if all those, about, -99 to +99 numbers on the MXT make it a more accurate discriminator than the X-70 with much fewer disc. segments at about 28 in steps of 2?? Thank you.

I have owned both, 2 years on MXT and the last 6 months on X-terra 70 and I would say that no, the MXT is not a better discriminator. Fact is, discrimination is sooo not perfect that its really an iffy tool anyway, especially if you're doing anything but coinshooting for clad. I've been more confident of my IDs with the X-terra than I ever was with the MXT. Take my opinion for what its worth. If you're a die hard relic hunter discrimination doesn't mean anything, but if you're a coinshooter then I think the X-terra would be a better machine for you anyway.

Well from my experience with the MXT it fooled me more often while learning it than the X-70 did. So for my 2 cents worth the MXT was not, too me, a better discriminator.

THANK YOU! I got it, so all those many extra(more) VDI numbers(segments) on the MXT do not mean more accurate discrimination, OK that does help me.
