Awesome Condition semi key date 1870 IH

Sunday I hunted a yard of a huge 1939 house and found a couple wheats and two dimes 42 & 47 but also found a bracelet and WW I collar disc and showed them to the home owner and sent her pics later after cleaning, now for the back story she had just bought the house two weeks ago and the prior owners were all original family members, she sent the pic to the Granddaughter that now lives in NC and she said my Grandmother lost that bracelet in the front yard near the porch ( I found it 2' within the porch, and the collar disk was her Grandfathers and he was a Captain in WW I and had lost it and she expressed interest in getting them back. I told the new owner no problem and she said drop them off to me and I'll mail them to her. Well Karma has a way of paying her debt. 2 hours after dropping off the items I found an awesome 1870 IH and remember the 1877 is a key date, and low and behold I see the 1870 is worth quite a bit also. going to get it graded. only bad part was it was on a steep bank and nicked the reverse side edge on the bottom. from looking at the PCGS photo grader it appears to be about VF 35

What a great story. It's all about saving history. ..those items individually aren't worth much, but to the family they are priceless. That is a beautiful IH! Congrats.

A great hunt and good luck with the grading on the Indian !

Nice find, definitely send it to PCGS for grading because they will grade it even though it's damaged! Don't send it to ANACS as they will not give a grade to coins with patina. They'll just determine if it's genuine or not and label it (IE Genuine/Corroded, with no grade). Corroded because of the patina, crazy! Happened to me with my Rare1864 L RPD Indian (with beautiful green patina) which must have been dropped within a few months after being minted. Then sent it to PCGS (that was a few years back though) and they gave it a grade of AU-50 . Congrats & Good luck!

Awesome story! Thanks for the pictures. Good luck on the grading.
