AutoTrac Setting

Rob (IL)

New member
AutoTrac is defaulted at 25. Have you had better luck with a faster or slower setting? It would help to know what type of ground you are hunting in. ROB

For the last month or so I have used Auto track and I really like it I have to say. For the first couple of months I only used lock track (with success but also had problems ground balancing in heavy iron).

I was running auto track at 10 and changed it to 15 today. I have never run 25 due to my iron. My Rx was at 10 and Disc at 85 (Zooming sensitivity had the "loss" at 37% or so, couldn't run Tx boost). Doing a ground probe I see my ground has 1% mineralization and the VDI comes in at -91 to -93. I believe that the latter is pretty intense iron. I don't see the numbers move outside of that range ever. I don't really know if I should run the speed faster but have great results with it as it is. I did decide today to start upping it and seeing what happens. I got 9 coins today and that is about the max for me when I hunt for 6 hours. (But hey, most were 75 or so years old and in HEAVY iron). I worked some of those targets out. ehehe There is iron nulling my threshold on almost every swing, sometime 3 pieces per swing and sometimes nothing, but it's almost always there.

I would really like to know a number that I should run it at. I'm afraid that if I up it too much, even with Inhibit (is that right?) set I worry if it updates too much it will track to the iron, so I run it low.

Nice question,
Thanks Rob,
EMS

I run with it as you said Rob - I couldn't think of a situation I'd face where I'd turn it off.

But, back to my question, in relatively thick iron, one should run with a very low setting I would think? I will play a bit more with it but I think my GB is fine.
