Auto Tune versus S.A.T.

Hi Fellow Detectorists !

Today I was re-reading the section on Threshold beginning on page 20 of Larry Sallee's book titled The Complete Unabridged Zip Zip. He talks about S.A.T., or Self Adjusting Threshold.

My Tesoro Bandido ll uMax has a toggle switch that offers two Tune modes, i.e. Normal and Auto.

Does the Auto Tune mode on the Bandido ll uMax perform the same function as a White's metal detector having S.A.T. ?

Thanks !

Then you throw in "slow auto tune" and "fast auto tune".

I'm not sure what my Eldorado has, but it does a good job sizing targets.

Digging pop cans is a thing of the past for me.

Not really. Sometimes I dig one just to prove myself right.:)

Tabman,

Thanks for your comments on the subject.

I was just wondering if the Bandido ll uMax "Auto Tune" and White's "S.A.T." both perform the same function, i.e. return the Threshold tone to the operator's last adjustment.

Auto-Tune is simply an electronic circuit that does the re-tuning to restore the Threshold audio if the ground make-up changes slightly or the coil position varies too much. You can manually re-tune the Bandido or Bandido II. The original Bandido has a manual re-tune position so you can re-set the Threshold audio at your desire. Otherwise, it has a slower auto-tune function in the All Metal mode.

With the Bandido II and Bandido II
