Auto Notch Question on SS2

Does anyone know how the adjustable auto-notch works on the SS2?

The Auto Notch, automatically notches out trash...iron/foil, and pull tabs/screw caps...some will still get by the notch, but most will be passed by...unfortunately, you will also pass up all but the largest gold objects...it is a great mode for coin shooting in high trash areas though...If you fiddle with the DISC/Notch knob, you shift the notch higher into the zinc and copper range, then ONLY dimes and up will be detected...
