Auto noise cancel ?

on the X70. Should the coil be held up in the air or should it be done with the coil in the normal sweep position but off the ground a bit?

Tom

Also was told by Minelab (Sandy) to point the coil at any suspected source of interference where your hunting and then noise cancel. This was for an Explorer but I suspect its the same for the 70.

With ny original Explorer XS coil was layed on ground and after experimenting found being off the ground worked better..Whether this is applicable to an X-terra I think Minelab( Sandy) would be able to help as she knows her Minelabs...

From what I understand, you should hold the coil high enough from the ground to make sure you are not detecting any targets. And, the coil should be held in the "horizontal position". The intent is to simulate the position of the coil while sweeping, in an effort to reduce those specific interference factors. Reminds me of when I had to turn my old transistor radio different directions for clearer reception. HH Randy

Just wanted some confirmation. I remember from the old CB radio days about signals having a definite polarization and have noticed with detectors that coil position makes a big difference in the amount of interference received or not received. Anyway the X-terras do handle interference as good or better than most.

Tom

Digital processing between the coil and the housing practically eliminates the interference we've encountered with other detectors. HH Randy

You are so right Randy it does make a difference. I have used almost all the other multi purpose detectors, the X70 is by far the best of the breed IMO.

The X-70 can hunt in most difficult Interference areas that over the years that any other brands cant work or useless. Such High Power lines, Micro towers , electric fence just name an few. You can ran Sen. level high in most cases, and still unaffected by interference!
