Auto ground balance and mineralization question

I'm fairly new to the etrac and I'm wondering about auto ground balance. Is there a way I can tell how mineralized my ground is? I know with the old manual ground balance you could tell by how far you turned the balance dial. I'm wondering because the depth I'm getting on a freshly buried quarter doesn't seem all that deep to me. I have a quarter buried at 6" and while my pro coil will pick it up my 6" excelerator won't touch it even if I bump the sensitivity up and open the screen up. When I air test with the 6" coil it will pick it up at 8" if I bump the sensitivity up to 26 so I'm wondering if its just the mineralization of my ground.

The suggested sensitivity should give you some indication of your soils mineralization. Check arround the area you hunt in and see what the suggested sens is. If it is a low number then your soil, minerals or possible stuff in the soil is being read. You may want to go to a different location altogether first and see what that dirt gives you in the way of suggested sens first. It ranges from place to place here. In fact in one location I found mine at 2...I still found stuff but it is tough there. 17 is about what I am finding average for me as we have mineralized soil here. 21-22 is realy good for me and anywhere higher is great.

That excelorator coil should pick up that quarter at 8. definitly do some testing and trying of things set up differently. thats what I do, If I dont hear it I try all kinds of things untill someting makes scense to me. Also, try it with a silver quarter.
