Australian detecting advice

Hi,
I'm visiting Australia for a few weeks and brought my trusty Coinstrike with me. I'm North of Sydney for a few days (E. Gosford), then we're flying out to Perth and spending a couple weeks travelling up the coast of W.A.
I'm planning mostly to do some coinshooting around beaches, parks, old buildings, etc. May rent a gold machine for a day and try my luck looking for the yellow stuff out west as well. Any mates out there who can give me some do's and dont's advice on dirtfishing down under? Also looking for somewhere in this area to pick up a sand scoop.
This is my 2nd visit to Australia (my wife is an Aussie), and for those who have never been here you should try to visit at least once in your lifetime. It's a beautiful country, great weather, lots of amazing things to see and do, and warm and friendly people who (almost) speak English.

Richard
