aussie question mostly?:ausflag:

this is a question mainly for fellow aussie detectorists? do you use an electronic pinpointer or is your detector so accurate when searching for the target in the ground, that you only need a implement to pop the target out of the ground? i was chasing down a pinpointer to-day from a retailer who sells detectors and he couldn't understand my need.he said all you need is a half inch wood chisel.i have been using a pinpointer and a flat tip screwdriver however my pinpointer tip has worn off and i was seeking a more up market one.i have been using a bounty hunter pinpointer with a whites bulleye as a back up.the second bounty hunter replacement under warranty only lasted a month and it's tip is gone.maybe the ground here is too rough for them after all they are manufactured in texas.well all you, drongoes and diggers what do you use? hooroo, see ya! blowfly.hh

I have a whites bullseye also and on each pinpointer I get I use a clear two part epoxy. I just run a piece of tape about a inch down from the tip around the shaft and then coat that tip area with epoxy. I refresh it about every few months when it looks like it has some wear on it. Never had a problem with a tip wearing out.
