Hi Guys,

Is their any guys from oz on the forum who use the gti 2500 or the gti 1500. As we all know some screw caps give a lower reading than our $1 & $2 coins some are higher and quite a few fall right on our dollar coins.I did see a posting from mick in dubbo regarding where the screw cap will fluctuate between b and c where as the $1 and $2 coins will be one size or the other. Is there anyone out there that can say definetly that there is no doubt about it.

Just curious Ray. How well does the 70 go at separating the screw caps from coins buy the numbers. I know that you are always going to dig them, but is the ratio high in favour of the coins? One thing I like about the X-Terra's, is the way they scream at the screw caps in pinpoint when they are shallow.

I have a GTI2500 and find that the sizing between B&C FOR Screwcaps is right about 80% of the time. But I still dig them all.

Hi pinpointa,
I have a 1350 GTP. Here's a list of common finds. The screw caps range from about 6.5 to 8.5 It can depend on there depth, shape and angle. $1 and $2 coins also vary with the mineralisation of the ground and how long they have been there. 7.5 is usually tops for the $1.
The fastest way to check is probing with a sharp pointed screwdriver. A $1 or $2 feel firm with you hit them but a screw cap feels spongy. Its an acquired feel.
My 1350 only has 3 profile sizes so all coins and screw caps are in small size.

Hi Mick,
The Exterra 70 does a brilliant job on seperating most of the screw caps. The ones that come before the $1 and $ 2 dollar coins and after the 1 and 2 dollar you do not get if you are using a tight pattern. Still there are other items that fall on 30 which is the $2 and the $1 is 32. The other range of coins the 5 cent comes in at 8 the 10 cent at 12 the 20 at 20, 50 at 24. But with the technology we have at the moment it looks like we will have to go to something totally different to get a 100% resiloution. Also using all metal you get a good idea as to what the target is. As you know mick i had the quattro before the exterra and the sovereign for 11 years and the exterra is way out in front.

Don't get too wrapped up on as to where the various denominations read. The fact that both the 1500 & 2500 can pick up your currency is the most important factor. You can always put a piece of white tape above your cursor readout and fill in your own spots where your machine will read them.
