Heres a look at downunder where I live.
Pic 1 is where a mate of mine actually lives, on the goldfields.
He recently struck a gutter at 12 foot deep and found nuggets up to 5 ounces. 70 oz all up.
Pic 2 is one of the bits he got.
Pic 3 is typical of the workings in the area done by the old timers.
Pic 4 is a huge mullock heap about 80 foot high and about 300 long, part of a deep lead working.
Pic 5 is one of our typical bush sunsets.

G,day Bob. Dead set my mate lives in that come summer or winter. He has turned his back on all mod cons and looks for gold like the old guys 100+ years ago. He even looks like an old time gold digger but hates his picture being taken which is why he's not in it.
Have a good one and keep those pictures of your finds coming.

Hey B.T.,

Thanks for sharing the pics. To be truthful, I've always wanted to go there, more than anywhere else since I was a young kid, and has always been "my" dream place, whatever, but so, the chance will never be it seems, but still, tis a nice dream, and hope you enjoy what I consider to really be one of the last "real" frontiers.:surrender:

I've had some Retired Navy Friends here (Pensacola, Florida) and one was stationed there for a couple of years. He and his wife loved it, but said he had never been anywhere with as many insects before (damn "bloody flys" everywhere, he used to say). But from everything else he talked about and from what he saw, it reinforced my wishes to visit (he said his "mates" made it feel like it was home).:buds:

Always wanted to look for "that thar Gold" as well, and if anything financially good ever comes my way, I will be the first to visit, coil, filled mug, smiles and all.

Take care there, and again, thanks for the pics, and tell him from me, his bungalow seems downright homely it does, says I,....G'day and a better mornings to ya'. Now find some of that "bloody gold" yerself and send more pics now.

Hi BT,

Now I know what a mullock heap looks like , thanks for the photo. But I notice what looks like a river or lake in the background. Any crocs in this area? As it looks like his camp is close enough to the water for them to seek him out as a food source.

And lastly that gold specimen is one of the coolest photos I've ever seen of raw gold, the colors just burst off of the screen, great shot!

Hope the toe's on the mend.

The hardest thing B.T. is trying to inspire some feedback from other XT users.
I know their out there.
Have a gold Day.
Bob

Hi Barnacle. Nah, no crocs there. Here in Victoria all we have to worry about are Brown, Black and Copper head snakes. When I lived in QLD though boy that was a different story. We used to get Tiapans coming into the backyard :surprised:(one of the worlds most deadly snakes), I would regulary hook sea snakes when fishing (also super deadly), some over 6 to 7 feet long, once I hooked a croc in the surf when fishing for salmon:yikes:, he was only on for a few seconds. And for a large part of the year the beaches had squillions of stinger jellyfish there. And yet QLD is the most popular place to holiday for us Aussies.
Guess we're just suckers for punishment, or thrillseekers, maybe both. Then maybe we're nuts too.
Yep, come holliday in the great downunder, just dont forget your 44 magnum and kevlar vest:lol:
