:ausflag:Noisy Tracker IV :ausflag:

Hi all,
Have just bought myself a BH Tracker IV from Dave at Treasure Enterprises in Brisbane and decided to christen it at the local beach.
I had some great finds (lots of bottle tops) but alas none of the golden stuff. It was running great in the dry but when I hit the wet sand and waters edge it went crazy whenever I touched the coil on the sand and the water.
Could someone please help. The settings I was using was Sensitivity in the 3 o'clock position with no discrimination and using the 8inch open coil supplied with the machine.
Also can I use this in the shallow water to find jewelery
Please help this Aussie newbie out.
Cheers
Andy

Hi Kooksnz mate :ausflag:you bought the wrong detector , did that guy tell you they were good on the beach??? ,i know a guy that calls them snake killers . i have seen a lot of people with those and none i repeat NONE of them go near the wet sand or the water, a mate and my self went to his shop to look at buying a couple of detectors a while back and the minute i touched one that was sitting against the wall some old woman came out and abused myself and my mate for touching them ,we walked straight out of there and went over to another brisbane dealer and bought two new detectors so much for friendly service eh!!! tj in oz:ausflag:

Hi Tj,
I wish I had known that now. And yes you are right about him. Bit pushy after I bought the Tracker.Asked him for a rundown on the detector but no help at all. Where did you get yours and what did you get?
Cheers

the only thing you can do is lower the senc till it gets a bit more stable or stick to the dry sand & the water is going to be hell with that detector you need a PI or a multi frequency detector for the salt water & wet sand.
a tip for the dry is run the senc as high as you can in all metal with the coil close to the sand moving nice & slowly & dig all the stuff the others miss .
also do some tot lots ( play grounds ) some have a surprising amount of $$ & gold.

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like i will be upgrading. I have looked at different retailers in the states and they are so much cheaper than over here. Will they work here or will I need to get it calibrated for aussie conditions ?
cheers

Gudday fellas
Sounds like you got jooped, not good.
A few years back, 15 to be exact I visited Treasure Enterprises and got the same welcome which made me feel very uncomfortable.
I think the wife is a bit in your face which isn't good for customer relations. Never really bought anything there since.
I deal direct to Minelab, 1 phone call + credit card No. and presto, a new detector. Magic money!!:clapping:
But recently a mate of mine from work cottoned on to what I was findly and said he was interested in buying and trying
the North coast/Sunny coast, so we went back to that said shop and he couldn't help us enough. :shrug:Maybe the wife wasn't there.
Anyway, good luck on your future purchase, I think maybe a Soveriegn, but then again it's up to you.
HH and goo luck
