Hullo Everyone -we are new users to the forum living in South Australia. We are a family group of detectorists using Xterra70s and SD2200. It has been a wonderful family activity and it has given us a greater appreciation for each other. We find the Aussie bush a wonderfully peaceful place, albeit with the full force of bushfires which are just part of the circle of life, death and renewal. On the detecting side of things we are finding some small pieces of gold and some interesting relics. Hope you are all well.

Welcome to the forum! Hope you enjoy yourself here! Just jump in and make yourself at home. Don't hesitate to post and share pictures! I'm sure you will make a lot of good friends here and will be blessed by all the support and good clean fun.

the chance to swing a coil in yer neck o' the woods. Not to mention dig nuggets, try my hand at a dry washer. Oh yeah, and the critters yinz got down there are the greatest in my book
I don't know which i'd enjoy most. Diggin nuggets, catchin snakes and lizards and such or jist hangin out with yinz aussies and yer native brothers and sisters. I'm afraid that if i ever got the chance to visit i'd never come back.
But then, yinz aren't allowed to own guns anymore(?). That jist wouldn't work fer me  :(
I'd still love to come hang with yinz tho.
oh yeah, what on earth is vegemite and do ya really eat it on sammiches ?

I keep seeing all those shows on TV that tell of Australia as having the deadliest - everything - spiders, snakes, etc. Hard to imagine the bush being peaceful.

Thinking of our cities...maybe with all the gangs, murders, etc, maybe the bush is peaceful by comparison. Welcome and God bless you and yours.

I'm in Michigan, U.S.A.

Sure hope you stick around and share pics of your finds and be a part of the family here.

God bless.

Welcome Magpies! We are really glad to have you posting with us and joining our family! We enjoy hearing about detecting stories and seeing pics of all the finds....gold and relics! Hope you all find lots to take pics of! I haven't been out :detecting: for a couple of years, but when I did I used a Whites Spectrum XLT and also trwo older Whites Coinmasters! I have been detecting since 1981 soooo had my fair share of swinging and digging! Sure loved being outdoors with God and all His beauty! Keep on, keepin' on enjoying the great outdoors! But I don't want any part of the poisonous snakes and other critters you have in the Aussies! Stay safe with Jesus and God Bless! Betty

Glad to have you on the forum with us we are a big ole family on here.

Thankyou for the wonderful responses. To answer some of the questions:

1. Yes, we do eat Vegemite on toast, sandwiches, meat, in fact anything.
2. I was in the Australian Regular Army for 20 years, so very little in the way of snakes etc etc scare me. What scares me is a lunatic/fanatic armed with an automatic weapon that has me in his sights. I spent some time at Hawaii (Scofield Camp is it?) and Fort Ord California with 7 Inf Div. Also worked with US Marines in East Timor in 1999/2000.
3. The best gold find has been a 3 1/2 ounce piece. The smallest is pin head size.
4. Relics 'aplenty' ranging from 1800's goldfields relics to RR stations/tracks etc.
5. I would love to upload images with the post but I simply cannot figure out how to do it!!

Take care and god bless.

Thank you, magpies, for answering our questions! I don't like snakes so I stay clear of them or try! Please post often about your finds and Mike in Michigan can help you in uploading your pics or others on here! Just have to get them the right size in your documents or pictures files! I use the paint program to resize mine and actually is pretty easy by resizing to 50% in the Skew to size area! Then just send them to the file you want them in! Then use the upload file on the CMD Forum and click on to the pic you have resized to less than what it requires and go from there! I always preview mine sooo I can see what they look like before posting it for seeing and reading! Hope this helps, if not get Mike to help you....he's our question answering man on this forum!  God Bless! Betty

Welcome to the forum. Always enjoyed watching the Croc Hunter. Never been to Australia, but looks like a nice place. Still, those brown snakes don't look to friendly. Glad to have you with us, and post often. You won't find any bad people here. I am a native of the state of Illinois, and now live in the state of Indiana, and sometimes in the state of confusion.
