:ausflag:hi all, most of my finds at the beach , in or out of the water are always deep and dirty meaning to me they have been there a while.it must be great to beat other pirates to recent loot. less digging sharper tones ect quicker retrieval time all round.i guess the trick is get there first. :detecting:

hi aussiedigger. i"v been to the beach a few times but never found to much both in and out of the water. a good days about $10 dry sand and $3 + 1 ring in the water i think there are lots of beach hunters in Aussie. i"v found fresh water lakes have heaps more $$$ and gold. on the plus side if you are digging older and deeper targets your more likely to get gold as it sinks heaps faster than coins and rubbish so keep up the good work.

thanks lazy the pirates here in queensland australia, pirate 24/7 the blighter's..... :no pity: especially on the gold coast (surfers Paradise) ....good point about gold being deep too where are you based ?

hi aussiedigger i"m in Melbourne. I dont go to the beach much as i"m after old coins and when i want $$$ i go to the local tot lots. i picked up a old whites beach hunter id and hit the water at the local Beach's and was surprised at the lack of targets it was like some one had used a vacuum cleaner the first time i found 3 pull tabs 1 $2 1 $1 2 5c 1 silver ring. that was 4 hours of hunting 7 targets that just sucked i hit them a couple of other times for around the same so retied the whites to the back of the cubed. the local lakes were kinder with some gold and $$$.
i ether need to get a better detector or give up beach detecting and stick with my tot lots.

It's not as easy as you think aussedigger. One of the places I hit is Santa Monica beach in California. I've been to that beach as early as 3 am thinking I'd get the jump on some of the others. I'll be darned if their weren't two or three people already detecting when I got there. When I first stated showing up early there they weren't very friendly. Kind of like I was invading there territory. We have lots of competition on our beaches. Granted not all of them are pro's but we do have some guys and gals that know what they're doing. They can't get it all so you'll usually get something but believe me, we have to work hard for the finds too.

hi all... yeah randy i see your point, i just smile and go about my business, it is a free beach after all. cant help feeling like the other pirates thoughts are, this guy is intruding though. :surrender:

I get to the beaches at Surfers Paradise just before dark, and I hunt for a minimum of 10 hrs at a stretch, with some short coffee breaks in between. I do this for a living so I don't care what anyone else thinks. I also do the surf and scuba dive with my Infinium LS during the day sometimes. If people have a problem with what I do, the problems theirs not mine!! HH regards Nugget.:detecting:
