:ausflag:Do you think their is as much modern coins lost since credit cards.

Probably not as much coinage in peoples pockets these days...lots of folks only use their atm cards for what was once cash transactions. I think another thing that has reduced the lost coinage is that people don't wear their "street clothes" to the beach and then undress...they just go in their swim-suit...I least that is my obsevation here in California.

I wish we had one and two dollar coins here...like you have on Oz...it sure would make coin hunting worthwhile.

Hi Fred,

I agree with you 100% i like the $2 coins but i hope we get a $5 coin in the future but i think a bit down the track we will all use cards for money and no coins or notes.

What a blow if that happens hope its not for a while.

I detect around American military posts in Germany. The military went to a debit card over two years ago, the troops can buy a pack of gum with the dang thing so yes, I have seen a difference in clad finds. I do not clad hunt too often but it is noticeable. HH, Mike

Hello Pinpointa, I'm with you, bring on the $5 coins, maybe we should start a campaign to get it started. HH

Or Foreheads LOL!
Cheers!

Yeah, its inevitable. But, with less lost and eventually less found those coins that have been lost should become more valuable. Probably not in our imediate lifetime though. But something for the grankids to look forward to I would imagine!

I don`t think at the moment in Oz that less coins are being lost as you have to spend at least $10 to use your card in most places, you need your change to get a paper or park the car ext.
