Aug 16 Little Park Update: Silver #40 for month / #113 for year, 14 day silver streak!

Went back to the little park for a quick 1.5 hour hunt.

For silver, I ended up with a 1936 merc. Silver #113 for year.

That makes 40 silver for August 113 silver for year. I had 44 silver TOTAL in the previous 11 years.

Also picked up 8 wheaties That makes 137 wheaties for August and 386 for the year. I had 270 wheats TOTAL in the previous 11 years.

I HAVE NOW FOUND SILVER THE LAST 14 DAYS THAT I HAVE HUNTED (40 silver). I am sure I have just jinxed myself now

This postage stamp sized park has now given me 48 silver and 210 wheats in 55 hours hunting.

Once again.......:clapping:
You're definitely one a roll! :yikes: HH Randy

WTG!! To what do you attribute your success? new machine? More depth, better seperation, better coverage?? What machines did you hit that park with before the ctx?? Keep it going and have fun. Bob.

I've had your experience with your park a few times since 1999. It's great when you find a spot like that. Keep pounding it! Congrats on your silver totals!!! Well done!

Just to remind everyone of the place I am hunting. I am only hunting the triangular shaped part between the roads.

Bob - I am convinced that at least 75% of the coins I have found in this park could have been found with any detector. Very few are over 8" deep, most at 5" or 6". This particular park is literally 2 minutes from my house. I detected it 12 years ago for 1.5 hours and found 6 clad coins. The metal detecting club I was in told me that the park was hunted out long ago and not to bother going there because I would be wasting my time.

So I did not go back for 12 years. This year, I got the CTX on April 1st and spent the first month really learning the machine . I started finding silver right away. I also quickly realized I was swinging way too fast, trying to cover as much ground as possible. I was swinging fast because others I saw were swinging fast. As far as I am concerned that is the single biggest mistake most detectorists make, they go WAY TOO QUICK. You need to learn your machine and make sure to understand every beep you hear from your machine. I decided to try the little park again for practice and the silver and wheats just started flowing. I have found 795 coins at this park and 213 were wheaties and 50 were silver.

An example of this, I have a friend that I try to get to hunt at this park, but he refuses to do it. I am convinced that if he does hunt it, he will get frustrated real quick and find very little, because he swings way too fast and passes over way more stuff than he finds in my opinion. Oh, you'll cover a lot of ground and pick up the obvious targets, but you will definitely miss more than you find.

The CTX is awesome in trash and that does make a difference.

Having confidence in your machine just may be the biggest factor of all. I am becoming one with my machine.
