Audio file of MXT Sound

Let's try an experiment here.

Click this link for an MXT with limited response phones:

and this one for Ratphones:

recorded with a Sure SM58 microphone between the cups.

This is like AM radio vs. FM, 78rpm record vs. CD.
You will not hear any detail with a tinny sound like that.

I always say, if you are just a target/no target hunter, go with the narow response phones. If you want to more hear detail, go wide!

Maybe hearing more frequencies at once, we can get a better idea:

No wonder you can't hear a thing, The bag muffles the sound :)

We can get Rudy to take the bag off and flush out his ears, He'll notice the difference too :)

after a long hunt though, you need a few asprin :)

So many times customers have emailed to tell me they can hear more differences between targets that they couldn't hear before.

Hey Paul,

I wear the earphones under my bag. :cheekkiss:

Maybe it's my crappy laptop built in speaker. :throw:

Now, if Rick needs a field tester, I volunteer to really give them a try and write a field report.:ninja:

Rick,

I don't know how reliable a test it is when using one's computer with buil-in speakers, specially on a laptop.

In regards to "AM radio vs. FM, 78rpm record vs. CD", I agree with you that there is a BIG difference between the "free" earphones thrown into a package deal. I personnaly have been using a set of KB Wasps. Hardly an AM radio.

I put off buying phones and one day my freebes I got with my MXT died. I got a set of Rats. The sounds you here are slightly diffrent but once you get them on your head its night and day. comfort. noise and it smooths out the signal. Great service too. My plug was bad on delivery and I was shioped a new on without question. Love mine

Due to mike placement, its difficult to record the volumes equally.
However, even if the volumes are exact, you may perceive the limited one as louder, depending on the frequency. This is just human nature and how we perceive sound. The fuller, less annoying sound will be perceived as lower in volume at first, but in reality you are hearing more of the sound. The subtle differences in targets can be heard more clearly.
If there are any characteristics of the target below 300 Hz or above 2500Hz in the limited band phones, you will not hear it at all.
