Audio comparing Deus to CTX Opinions?

Bell-Two

Active member
I have used E-Tracs and CTX for years and recently got a Deus and I notice a difference in the audio. It seems to me that the Minelabs give a "Crisper" audio response than the Deus. It may be my swing speed or I need to boost my audio response, currently run it on 3 or it may be my old ears...lol! Is it just me or have others noticed a difference too.

I use the WS5 phones.

i never liked the minelab circus music same with the Garretts i like a simple sharp repeatable tone easy to read and decipher. In my opinion minelabs have far to slow of a swing speed for my hunting style, that being said, I can not relate to tones being crisper. My Deus has very crisp tones, reactivity may be what you need to adjust as well as swing speed no need to go slow with the deus it can read a target as fast as you can swing it.

Ok reactivity up or down what do you suggest ? as for Minelab sounds I use my CTX in combined so each range of targets have one sound

you set the Deus up so you have "bins" like the CTX if you want. I think up to 5 separate areas that you can set up any way that you want with a different tone in each section.

I love my Deus but in my opinion the Minelabs have like a deluxe sound card compared to all the others. Just my .02

.

Yes I have done that that is not a problem it is the "crispness" that seems different

Comparing the two is difficult for me because they are so exact opposite in full tones which is how I hunt the most.
Like comparing R2D2 to the New York Philharmonic Orchestra.
Minelab's 35 conductive are just miles ahead of the Deus in terms of descriptiveness.
Both have a distinct type of more solid tone on good targets especially the Deus with it's "round sound",,,where it almost pops with the crispness of the tone.
Higher reactivity settings seem to cut off some of the Deus tones so if I try to hunt in 4 or 5 , which I seldom do , I slow the swing speed down. The new 2.5 may be a real winner. If you are thinking the CTX is the crisper of the two , I would check those WS5 headphones or try some different ones , like the wired backphones from XP and plug them in to the remote.($20)

Deus audio in full tones is far better than CTX... but in trashy area... But this better item description is mostly from data processing speed, and better software.

shelton7522,
I have had a CTX for about 4 years and love it but I am looking at a Deus because of back issues. In what way is the audio of the Deus, in full tones, far better than the CTX.
Thanks, Randy

I know several, people that have both and all say the target ID is better on CTX,

Target ID is better because is multi frequency machine not single VLF. But audio processing, and quality, and speed is better with Deus.

Hey Bell two. I own both machines and like you said you may be swinging too slowly. You have to with the CTX to give it time to process, but the Deus actually gives a crisper tone when swung fast. Go look at Calabash diggers utube on swing speed. I realized then I was swinging too slowly and its really helped me. Best.

You may also want to experiment with your audio overload setting , especially on shallow targets.

The lack of crispness you hear is probably due to the recovery time, reduce it to 0 and set the silencer at -1 and you'll hear the crispness. The higher the reactivity the chirpier the sound.

I have a CTX also, you'll get used to the Deus.
